"A child's purpose is to be a child. Nature doesn't disdain what lives only for a day. It pours the whole of itself into the each moment".
I've been told watching me photograph children is exceptionally entertaining. And to that I stick out my tongue and laugh. Being a mother has given me a great understanding of the wonder in a child and the opportunity for adventure in the simplest of things. Theses qualities define me as a photographer, especially of my younger subjects.
Children's photography in my eyes is all about play. It's taking dreams and bringing them to life. It's half sunk pirate ships in Tempe Town Lake, it's Elsa in her snow castle, or powder painting your child green because they love the Ninja Turtles. There's music, and costume and make believe. Because now is what is most important and there will be time for them to grow up, but now is the time to celebrate their imagination.
